Timeline B

Short Story Collection

"For Jett, who’s father is out of time: a pair of sunglasses, to see the truth; for April, who’s wish is to leave this world: a small pill, to take a journey to find herself; and for Wren, who’s lost everything: a wristwatch, to make a new friend."

1: Jett Everridge
2: Liam Oyakata
3: April Plume
4: Wren Almeda

When Jett Everridge takes the wrong turn in looking for his father, he ends up in an accident with two strangers - April and Wren - that defines the rest of their lives. Sent on a journey through time, space, and reality, they experience their own truths of the Universe, reaching points of no return, causing them to grapple with the hard question: what is real, what is fake, and what is both?

The creation of Timeline B started off in 2018 as my story of three teenagers who got lost in an adventure through time. After sitting, unfinished, on my shelf for a couple years, I decided to re-write the story from a new perspective. Intended to bend the mind, Timeline B is my first attempt at exploring the nature of reality through storytelling, hopefully compelling others to question who, what, why, and when they truly are, questions only answerable to yourself.

A U.S. Marine in Afghanistan, facing death and despair, finds solace in the mystery, the unanswerable questions, of life.

This story, written for the English Dept. Writing Awards at UAlbany, was inspired from the story of my best friend, a Marine who perservered through the worst that life could throw at him - it is hard if not impossible to imagine the depth of hardship these men and women go through. This story is an attempt to shine a light on those tragedies we so often forget, the sacrifices made to protect our freedoms.

Violet Paradise

Short Story

"Beyond that, a massive valley reaches far into the distance, purple, lush flora growing thick and heavy, creating a jungle with a vast canopy covering the flowing mountains."

Sick of living life on a corporate-run, poverty-stricken world, a man purchases his own planet, Oasys-77, to find his own version of paradise.

This story was written over a series of workshops in one of my early Creative Writing courses. My focus of this story was on vivid imagery, painting a scene of exploration through a wild, purple-colored planet.
